Practice management and the books in one place

Most accountancy practices still run two stacks: one for the firm, one for the ledgers. AccountsOS now puts practice management and Finn on the client books in the same product.

Quick Answer

AccountsOS already ran the client books with Finn: receipts, bank, VAT, month-end, Companies House. The missing piece for many practices was the firm layer: clients, jobs, team, AML, economics. That practice management module is live. One login for the firm and the ledgers, without paying a separate premium practice OS on the side.

Until this week, AccountsOS was strongest as an accounting platform: a real ledger, Finn preparing the books, VAT and Companies House workflows wrapped around the work a bookkeeper already does. What most practices still buy separately is practice management. We have now shipped that module on the same product. One place for the firm and the client files.

Two tools was the normal stack

Talk to a UK, Irish or Australian practice and the pattern is familiar.

One system for the books. Another for running the firm: onboarding, engagements, jobs, capacity, who is on which file, whether the work pays.

Sometimes there is a third layer for receipts or chase. The Monday morning is already messy. Split software makes it messier.

Dedicated practice management tools do that firm layer well. They also charge like it. And they still leave you in a second product for the ledger.

What we already had

AccountsOS was never just a chatbot on a spreadsheet.

Finn works a real double-entry ledger. Bank, coding, documents, payroll journals, VAT, month-end, year-end prep, Companies House. The bookkeeper still reviews. The partner still signs and files.

That is the books module. It is the production line.

What was missing

The practice itself.

Bringing a client in. Engagement letters. Allocating the team. Seeing the desk across every file. AML. Capacity. Economics. The stuff that lives in Karbon, Xero Practice Manager, IRIS or a spreadsheet when the ledger lives somewhere else.

Without that, an accountant who wanted software still needed two homes.

What is live now

Practice management sits on the same AccountsOS practice account as the books.

Onboarding, contracts, jobs, inbox, team, AML, capacity, economics. The desk that shows what needs a human across the client book. Then one click into a client file where Finn has already done the first pass.

You can still keep an existing practice OS and only put the books on Finn. That path stays open. The point of this launch is the other path: one product when you are ready for it.

Why this matters on a Monday

The chase list and the job board are the same week.

Who has not sent July. Whose bank does not tie. Whose VAT pack is blocked. Who on the team owns that file. Whether that file is even worth the hours.

When those answers live in two logins, people waste the morning switching. When they live in one place, the hour goes on the clients who need a call.

What we are not claiming

Finn does not file or sign. You do.

This is not a "kill Xero" post. Many clients will stay on the ledger they already have while you pilot. It is also not a claim that no other vendor has ever thought about practice software. It is a claim about our product: the firm layer and the books layer are now in one AccountsOS practice account, at practice pricing, without buying a separate premium practice OS just to organise the work.

Try it

Start with one real client on the books. Turn on practice management when you want the firm layer in the same place.
