Quick Answer

AccountsOS now closes your books automatically. Finn reconciles your bank feed every morning, matches payments to invoices, files and categorises anything you send, and at month-end sends one message β€” what it handled plus the one thing it needs β€” with a button to close. At year-end it prepares your statutory accounts and you tap once to file to Companies House (UK). Nothing locks or files without your confirmation, and every task is also available on the dashboard.

AccountsOS now closes your books for you. Finn reconciles your bank feed every morning, matches incoming payments to open invoices and marks them paid, and files and categorises any receipt, bill or statement you send from any channel. At month-end it sends a single message β€” what it handled this month plus the one or two things that need you β€” and a one-tap button to close. At year-end it prepares your statutory accounts from the ledger and you tap once to file to Companies House (UK companies). Everything that locks a period or files to a registry waits for your confirmation, and every step is also available on the dashboard.

Month-end has always been the part of running a company that quietly piles up: receipts in a drawer, a bank feed nobody has reconciled, a nagging sense that something is unfiled. The promise of AccountsOS has always been "throw anything at Finn and it's done." Today that promise extends all the way to the close.

Finn now does the bookkeeping in the background and reports back on a steady rhythm β€” so you stop dreading month-end and start just reading a message.

What changed

Three things came together:

  1. The books close themselves. Finn reconciles every morning, matches payments to invoices, and files what you send β€” continuously, without being asked.
  2. Finn tells you on a predictable beat. A weekly note covering what it handled, a single month-end message with the one thing it needs, and a year-end "ready to file" β€” all in one place, never spammy.
  3. You stay in control. Closing a month or filing accounts always waits for your tap. Finn does the work; you make the call.

The rhythm

Instead of a swarm of reminders, Finn now works to one cadence:

  • Daily β€” quiet by default. Finn reconciles and files in the background and only speaks when something actually happened or needs you. The old "282 transactions, matched 0" daily noise is gone.
  • Weekly β€” your week with Finn. One short note: "This week I handled 12 transactions reconciled, 3 documents filed and 2 invoices marked paid. Nothing needs you β€” you're all caught up." If something does need you, it's one or two plain questions you can answer in chat or by uploading what's missing.
  • Monthly β€” month-end, closed. "Ran your May month-end β€” 3 receipts and 4 payments handled this month. One question for you: 2 payments over Β£50 have no receipt β€” can you send them over? Then tap to close." One message, one button.
  • Year-end β€” tap to file. When your accounting period ends, Finn drafts your statutory accounts from the general ledger and tells you they're ready. You review, then tap to file to Companies House β€” without leaving the chat.

What Finn does in the background

  • Reconciles every morning. Bank feeds sync overnight; Finn matches transactions to your receipts and invoices and auto-applies the confident matches. You review only the genuine exceptions, not every line.
  • Matches payments and marks invoices paid. An incoming payment that settles an open invoice is matched and the invoice marked paid, with the correct double-entry posting behind it.
  • Files and categorises anything you send. Snap a receipt on WhatsApp, forward a bill by email, drop a statement into chat. Finn extracts it, categorises it against your chart of accounts and links it to the right record β€” deduplicated so the same receipt sent twice never doubles your books.
  • Prepares the close and the year-end. Finn computes how complete each month is, flags what's still outstanding, and drafts your annual accounts when the period closes.

The confirmations name names

When Finn matches something, it tells you exactly what happened. Not "done" β€” but "Matched it to invoice INV-0416 for Mark Jones." You read it and know there is nothing left to do. The whole point is that you can trust the message without opening a report to check.

Automatic, but never out of your hands

Automation only works if you trust it, so the irreversible steps stay yours:

  • Nothing locks or files without your tap. Closing a month and filing to Companies House always wait for you.
  • Full dashboard parity. Prefer to click rather than chat? Every close, every question and every figure is on the dashboard too. The conversation is the front door, not the only door.
  • You only see what needs you. Finn handles the rest silently and rolls it into the weekly note, so your attention goes to judgement calls, not data entry.

Where it's available

The autonomous close, morning reconciliation and weekly check-in work across all 21 countries AccountsOS supports. One-tap year-end filing currently goes to Companies House for UK companies, with more registries on the roadmap. Finn reaches you wherever you already are β€” the web app, the Finn dock on every dashboard page, email, WhatsApp, Slack and Telegram.
