31 March following the calendar year-end for legal entities. A one-month extension can be requested before the original deadline.

Income Tax Return (Declaración Jurada de Renta)

Annual ISR return for legal entities with a calendar-year end, filed through the DGI e-Tax 2.0 portal. Individuals file earlier, by 15 March.

Finn tracks your Panama deadlines

AccountsOS handles tax, filing deadlines and invoicing for Panama businesses, in plain English. Ask Finn about yours, no signup needed.

Who this applies to

  • S. de R.L. and S.A. companies with a calendar-year end
  • Companies with an active Aviso de Operación, including those with no income
  • Persona jurídica taxpayers registered with the DGI

What to file

The Declaración Jurada de Renta showing net taxable Panama-source income, the 25% ISR calculation and, for gross taxable income over US$1,500,000, the CAIR comparison.

How to file

Online through the DGI e-Tax 2.0 portal. No in-person appointment is needed. Finn prepares the figures and you file in the portal.

Payment due

Finn's Panama rules do not set a separate payment date, so confirm the payment date for your filing in e-Tax 2.0. Quarterly estimated prepayments may already have been made.

Penalties for missing this deadline

Automatic fines apply if a company with an active Aviso de Operación does not file, including a zero-income declaration. Finn's rules do not hold the amount, so check the current figure with the DGI.

Filing checklist

  • Close the books for the calendar year
  • Separate Panama-source income from foreign-source income
  • Check whether gross taxable income exceeds US$1,500,000 and compare the CAIR calculation
  • Request the one-month extension before 31 March if it is needed
  • File in e-Tax 2.0 and keep the receipt

Documents you'll need

  • Trial balance and year-end financial statements
  • Income split by Panama-source and foreign-source
  • Record of quarterly estimated tax payments
  • Payroll records and CSS payment evidence

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Treating all income as taxable instead of only Panama-source income
  • Not filing a zero-income declaration when the Aviso de Operación is active
  • Asking for the extension after 31 March instead of before
  • Missing CAIR for a high-turnover, low-margin company
