Review packs

The checks Finn ran, the exceptions, the sign-off. One pack per period, exportable.

Month-end close, annual accounts and VAT returns already run a set of checks. A review pack packages what was found into one artefact: the checks and their pass or fail, the exceptions and how each was cleared, and a sign-off from the reviewer before the period locks.

Finn prepares the pack. You review it and sign it off.

How it works

How it works

01

Finn runs the checks

Bank reconciled, transactions categorised, opening balances present, the return drafted, whatever the period's checks are, Finn runs them as part of the close, the accounts prep or batch prep.

02

Exceptions land with how they were cleared

Anything that needed a person shows up named, not as a count, alongside whether it was resolved before the period locked or acknowledged and locked anyway.

03

You sign it off

Open the pack, read the checks and exceptions, and sign off. The sign-off is the record, not a click that disappears into an activity log.

04

Export a PDF, filed automatically

A signed pack exports to PDF and files itself in the practice vault, so a reviewing partner or an external accountant can see the working without a login.

  • One pack per company per period: month-end close, annual accounts, VAT return
  • Checks show which were Finn's and which needed a person, with a plain-English detail on each
  • An exception carries who cleared it and when, not just that it was cleared
  • Locks with the period, a month-end lock or a filed set of accounts freezes its pack
  • The job board's review stage points straight at the matching pack

FAQ

The questions accountants ask first

Does Finn sign the pack off?

No. Finn runs the checks and prepares the pack, a person on your team reviews it and signs off. The sign-off is always a person's action.

What if a check fails?

It shows as failed with the detail, and the exception it maps to stays open until it is resolved or you acknowledge it and lock the period anyway. Nothing is hidden to make the pack look clean.

Can I export it for a client or another accountant to see?

Yes. Once signed off, the pack exports to a PDF and files itself in your practice vault, the same place engagement letters and AML evidence live.

Does this replace month-end close or annual accounts?

No, it packages what those already do. The checks come from the close, the accounts prep or batch prep, a review pack is the artefact, not a new engine.

What happens if I lock a period with exceptions still open?

You can, the same way month-end close lets you acknowledge exceptions and lock anyway. The pack records that they were open at lock and who acknowledged them, it does not pretend the period was clean.
