How it works

Send Finn what happens. It sorts the rest.

  1. 01

    Send it over

A photo of a receipt on WhatsApp, an invoice raised in the app, a bank feed that syncs itself. However it arrives, Finn takes it from there.

  2. 02

    Finn keeps the books

Every receipt read, every payment categorised, every invoice matched to the money that lands. Nothing to type twice.

  3. 03

    Your tax bill, worked out

Finn keeps a running estimate of your Self Assessment as the year goes, not a surprise in January.

  4. 04

You review, Finn does the rest

Check anything Finn flags. Everything else is already sorted, ready for when you or your accountant files.

Receipts and expenses

Snap it and forget it.

A photo on WhatsApp, an email forward, or nothing at all if you connect Gmail. Finn reads every receipt, works out what it is and matches it to the payment, so your allowable expenses are ready without a shoebox of paper.

  • Photos, PDFs and forwarded emails, read automatically, VAT and all
  • Mileage claims: log a trip and Finn applies the current rate
  • Matched to the card payment or bank line as soon as it lands
  • Anything Finn can't place waits in one short list for you

Getting paid

Invoice, chase, get paid. Finn runs all three.

Raise an invoice from the app or ask Finn on WhatsApp. If a client runs late, Finn chases them in your words, on your schedule. The moment the money lands in your bank, the invoice is marked paid.

  • Draft an invoice in plain English, in chat or in the app
  • Four reminder steps in your own wording, starting on the due date
  • Matched to your bank the day the payment lands
  • No cap on invoices, whatever your price

Your tax bill

Self Assessment worked out as you go.

Finn keeps a running estimate of your Income Tax and National Insurance from the books as they stand, so you always know roughly what you owe, not just once a year. It works out payments on account too, if HMRC requires them, so there is no surprise second bill in July.

  • A running estimate, not a January guess
  • Class 4 National Insurance included
  • Payments on account worked out if you're due to make them
  • You or your accountant file the return: Finn gets the figures ready

FAQ

Sole traders: common questions

Do I still need an accountant?

Plenty of sole traders use AccountsOS on their own. If you already work with an accountant, Finn does the books and the running Self Assessment estimate, and hands your accountant clean figures instead of a shoebox of receipts.

What does it cost?

£10/month + VAT, 14 days free to start, no card needed. That's half the limited company price, because a sole trader doesn't have Corporation Tax, annual accounts, a confirmation statement or dividends to deal with.

What if I become a limited company later?

Add your new company under the same login and switch between the two whenever you like. Your sole trader records stay exactly as they are, and the company moves to the limited company plan.

Do I need to register for VAT?

Only once your turnover crosses the threshold, or if you choose to register early. Once you are registered, AccountsOS handles VAT returns the same way it does for a limited company.

Which banks does it work with?

Starling, Revolut, Wise, Mercury and Qonto connect and sync every day. Bank somewhere else? Upload a CSV, PDF or spreadsheet statement and Finn reads it the same way.

Is Self Assessment actually filed for me?

Finn works out your running tax estimate from your books all year. The Self Assessment return itself is filed by you or your accountant, using the figures Finn has kept ready.

Can I claim mileage?

Yes. Log a trip and Finn applies the current mileage rate, ready to submit an expense claim for approval.
