# What is Withholding tax and 50 Tawi (Thailand)?

Country: Thailand

A Thai payer withholds tax from many payments and remits it monthly: P.N.D.1 for employee pay, P.N.D.3 for payments to individuals and P.N.D.53 for payments to companies. The payee gets a withholding certificate, called 50 Tawi.

## Current rate (Within 7 days of month-end, or 15 days when filed online.)

Common rates: 3% on service fees to a Thai company, 5% on rent, 10% on dividends.

## Example

A company pays a Thai agency 50,000 baht for services. It withholds 1,500 baht (3%), pays the agency 48,500 baht plus any VAT, and remits the 1,500 baht with P.N.D.53.

## How Withholding tax and 50 Tawi (Thailand) works in Thailand

Withholding is credited against the payee's own tax. Finn works out the withholding on supplier payments by type and reminds you to issue the 50 Tawi. The rates come from Revenue Department pages that are several years old, so Finn confirms the rate per payment type.
