# Can I claim Software and Subscriptions as a business expense in Thailand?

**Yes, fully claimable.** Yes. Software, cloud tools and online subscriptions used for the business are normal costs of a Thai company.

Typical amount: Varies by provider and plan. Many tools bill monthly by card in a foreign currency, so the amount in baht changes with the exchange rate. Record each charge at what left the bank.

## What Revenue Department (กรมสรรพากร) says

Net profit for corporate income tax is worked out on an accrual basis under the Revenue Code, and costs of running the business reduce it. Private costs are not deductible. Keep the invoice. If the supplier is VAT-registered in Thailand, keep the full tax invoice so the input VAT can be claimed on your P.P.30. A foreign software supplier selling to Thai customers may be registered under the e-service VAT rules; ask your accountant how its VAT is recorded.

## When you can claim

- Accounting, invoicing and project software used for the business
- Cloud storage and hosting for company data
- Domain names and website hosting
- Design and development tools used for client work
- Extra user seats for staff
- Annual plans paid in advance, which your accountant may spread over the months they cover
- Paid plugins and add-ons for the company website

## When you cannot claim

- Personal streaming or entertainment subscriptions
- Software used mainly for private purposes
- Subscriptions for a different company in the same group, which belong in that company's books
- Software bought for a director's family

## Good to know

**Pro tip:** Forward software receipts to Finn as they arrive. It reads them and matches each one to the bank payment. Use one company card for subscriptions. It keeps private and business charges apart and makes the monthly match quick.

**Important:** The invoice should name the company, not a director personally. A receipt in a private name is weak support if the Revenue Department asks about the cost, so ask the supplier to correct it.
