# What is Social insurance (NOSI)?

Country: Egypt

Contributions under the Social Insurance and Pensions Law 148 of 2019, shared between employer and employee on the insurable wage and paid to the National Organization for Social Insurance.

## Current rate (Wage limits are raised every January.)

Insurable wage from EGP 2,700 to EGP 16,700 a month in 2026. Confirm current rates with the National Organisation for Social Insurance (NOSI).

## Example

An employee paid EGP 20,000 a month is insured on the EGP 16,700 maximum in 2026.

## How Social insurance (NOSI) works in Egypt

The employer must apply to insure a new employee within two weeks of the start date, on the actual wage. For people retiring under the 2026 limits, the minimum pension is EGP 1,755 and the maximum EGP 13,360.
