# Monthly VAT Return (Form 10)

Country: Egypt
When: During the month after the tax period, so by the last day of that month. The December return is due by 31 January.

The monthly VAT return for every VAT registrant. Output VAT on sales is set against input VAT on purchases backed by valid e-invoices. Each registrant files every month, including months with no sales.

## Who this applies to

- Every VAT registrant (mandatory at EGP 500,000 of sales in 12 months; importers, exporters and distribution agents always)

## What to file

Output VAT on sales at 14% or the Schedule Tax, input VAT on valid e-invoices, and the balance. Sales and purchases are reported in the month of the e-invoice. A missing e-invoice cannot simply be added to a later month without your accountant's view.

## How to file

Online with the ETA. AccountsOS does not submit to the Egyptian Tax Authority. The company or its accountant files. Finn keeps the date on your calendar, reminds you before it falls due and shows the figures from the books your accountant needs.

## Payment due

By the same date as the return. Any VAT due for the month is paid with the return.

## What happens if you miss it

Not filing for more than 60 days after the legal period is an offence under Article 69(a) of Law 206 of 2020. Late payment adds additional tax.

## Submission checklist

- Reconcile sales with your issued e-invoices and e-receipts
- Check every purchase VAT line has a valid e-invoice
- File Form 10
- Pay the balance
- Keep the filing receipt with the month's records

## Documents you need

- Sales and purchase e-invoice listings from the ETA portal
- Import documents
- Bank statements
- Credit and debit notes for the month
- The e-receipt listing for sales to consumers

## Common mistakes to avoid

- Claiming VAT on a paper invoice
- Leaving out exempt sales from the registration test
- Skipping a month with no sales
- Reporting a sale in the wrong month
- Reporting sales from the bank statement instead of from the e-invoices issued
