# DASN-SIMEI (annual MEI declaration)

Country: Brazil
When: 31 May of the year after the calendar year. After closure: the last day of June if closed from January to April, otherwise the last day of the month after closure.

The annual declaration of the MEI's gross revenue. The declaration tells the Receita Federal how much the MEI earned in the year and whether there was an employee. It is the MEI's one annual report.

## What to file

The MEI's total gross revenue for the year. An MEI that closed during the year files a special declaration for the months it was open, by the date set out above.

## How to file

Through the MEI app or the Simples Nacional portal. AccountsOS does not submit anything to the Receita Federal. The company or its contador files and pays. Finn keeps the deadline on your calendar, reminds you before it falls due and shows the figures from the books that your contador needs.

## Payment due

No payment with the declaration, unless revenue went over the limit.

## What happens if you miss it

2% a month of the taxes declared, capped at 20%, minimum R$50.

## Submission checklist

- Add up the year's revenue
- Check it against the R$81,000 limit
- Send the DASN-SIMEI
- Split revenue between commerce or industry and services where the MEI has both
- Say whether the MEI had an employee in the year
- Keep the receipt of the declaration

## Documents you need

- Sales records and fiscal documents for the year
- The year's DAS-MEI receipts
- Payroll records if the MEI had an employee
- The date of closure, if the MEI closed during the year

## Common mistakes to avoid

- Under-reporting revenue
- Missing that revenue went over the R$81,000 limit
- Leaving out sales paid in cash or by Pix
- Waiting until the last days of May, when the portal is busiest
- Not filing because the MEI had no revenue: a declaration is still due
